Tetris 99 has served up some of the finest multiplayer moments of the year, and that doesn't look to be stopping with the news that a four-way Team Battle mode has been added to the game.
Simply put, players will choose one of four teams, which will then battle it out until there's only one team left standing. Players can choose whichever team they want to represent, although understrength teams will get a power boost to level the playing field. Apparently the new password-based matchmaking feature should make it easy to gather friends before heading in to knock some blocks together.
Players will be able to spectate games once they've been knocked out, although those playing the new Grand Prix 10 event will want to stick around so they can bag their points. The event starts on December 13 at 7 am and ends on December 17. At the end, the 999 highest ranked players will get 999 Gold Points to spend in the eShop.
On top of all that, players can find new button configuration options, new user emblems, as well as the chance to redeem 30 in-game tickets for special themes from earlier events (from the original Game Boy version of the game, plus Splatoon, Fire Emblem and Super Kirby Clash).
