Minh "Gooseman" Le, one of the co-developers of the Half Life mode commonly known as Counter-Strike, is releasing his new game on Steam.

Tactical Intervention has already been in open beta in North America, but when it launches worldwide on Steam it'll be a free-to-play shooter. The move comes after the game's original publisher (OGPlanet) shut down servers because players numbers were too low to sustain their interest in the game. How this bodes for its future release remains to be seen.

Made in conjunction with Fix Korea and now published by 1337 Games, it builds on the terrorists vs. counter-terrorists theme that resonated so strongly with CS, a game that has since gone on to spawn several different iterations and has proved wildly popular with shooter fans.

There's several different scenarios on offer, including a highway chase sequence that sits alongside the more traditional trappings of the genre.
