Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer is considering his options following the departure of Don Mattrick from the company, and may well put Windows chief Julie Larson-Green in charge of hardware engineering.

Mattrick, who was responsible for the Xbox One's recent launch, has taken a position as CEO of Zynga. He would have been in contention for the hardware role had he not left the company. Larson-Green could be next inline to take the position, which would also include the oversight of Surface tablets as well as Xbox 360 and Xbox One.

The report from Bloomberg suggests that nothing is definite yet, and that Ballmer could reshuffle in another direction all together, but with the departure of Mattrick, and with plans for a restructure in the works, expect some movement very soon.
