Many Final Fantasy VII fans are eagerly awaiting the arrival of the remake next year, and now the PlayStation Blog has unleashed a load of screens to get us even more excited for the game, showing the content as well as the visual polish.
The two below show off weapon abilities that we can see in the game, which increase in potency the more they're used. When it reaches the maximum level, the ability is learned by the player and can then be used with any other weapon as well, and you can see the Buster Sword upgrade screen, allowing you to improve the amount of Materia slots or the wielder's status.

We also get a look at how to activate Classic Mode, as all you need to do is select Classic from the difficulty menu. When this is activated, party members act automatically, and the ATB gauge fills up as they go, with the player only needing to select abilities, magic, and items to be used with ATB.
This is designed to reflect the menu-based combat from the original game, while still retaining the new look and flavour of the remake. That said, you can still take direct control during Classic Mode if you want, so don't worry.

In terms of unique abilities, seen below, the triangle button activates these, with Cloud's letting him change between different fighting styles. Operator Mode, for example, has good attack and defence, but the Punisher Mode seen below is all about attack, with movement speed reduced as his square attacks pack a heftier punch.

Then Square Enix fills us in on Summons, as Chocobo and Moogle use their special move Stampede to stomp enemies with a heard of chocobos. While equipping Summon Materia, you can summon one of these powerful allies once the summon gauge fills up, with these Summons fighting automatically alongside you.
You can even use your own ATB charges to give them special abilities, and they'll unleash a special move when they leave the battlefield as well.

On the other hand, we also have Assess Materia, allowing you to use Assess on any enemy to see their resistances and weaknesses. This will let you get the upper hand in battle, as you can see below.
On top of that we also have a hefty gallery of miscellaneous images as well, showing the world, combat, and even the darts we'll get to play in this remade RPG, which is due to kick off in March of 2020.
