Tencent is a major player in the world of video games these days, investing in companies like Funcom and Epic Games, and they've even partnered with Nintendo to roll the Switch out into China.
It seems as if Tencent wants to take this partnership a step further though, as an anonymous Tencent official told the Wall Street Journal that console players are being targetted in the US and Europe.
"What we want is to expand from China, and one target is console game players in the U.S. and Europe," the official said. "We hope to create console games with Nintendo characters, and learn the essence of making console games from Nintendo engineers."
The same report says that officials didn't believe that the Switch would sell as well in China as other territories like the US and Japan, since people are more accustomed to PCs and mobile gaming.
Is this a wise move for Tencent?
