During their E3 Analyst Briefing Nintendo has revealed their intention to boost the number of people using the StreetPass feature of 3DS by taking advantage of Wi-Fi access points at places like Starbucks and McDonalds, introducing a relay system that'll hopefully see more players connected.

Compared to Japan, European StreetPass users are not meeting as many fellow 3DS gamers online, so Nintendo are set to introduce an update that allow gamers in the aforementioned public areas to share data. Before it required a pool of 3DS consoles concurrently located in the same area to work, now a new sequential system will see information relayed between different users, meaning you won't even need to be in the same place at the same time in order to take advantage of the StreetPass functionality of the handheld.
