Yesterday brought us the news that EA had picked up PopCap Games, makers of casual phenomenons such as Bejeweled, Peggle and Plants vs. Zombies. Forbes now reports that Farmville creators Zynga were willing to part with $1 billion in cash for PopCap. It seems PopCap opted for a slightly less lucrative cash offer from EA ($750 million) that in turn also included a potential earn-out of an additional $500 million after two years.
A third potential buyer was Chinese Tencent, but they pulled out of the EA and Zynga led bidding war.
