Microsoft has revealed what it calls its "vision for content filtration" that aims at "building a positive gaming community" - and let's be honest, there is a reason for it.

There are four levels of filtration, friendly, medium, mature and unfiltered. While friendly is the default setting for children, the medium filter will "only" block discriminating and bullying, while the mature one only hides direct offensive talk. Unfiltered is, well, unfiltered. Besides a global setting, you can also customize filtering depending on the sender.

This feature is currently only available to Xbox Insiders, but will come to all users later this year, and support 21 languages from start. This includes console, PC and mobile.

Microsoft is planning to implement the filtration to most of its Xbox service including the activity feed.

The press release from Microsoft makes it clear that they want to push their Code of Conduct a lot harder:

"Ultimately our vision is to supplement our existing efforts and leverage our company efforts in AI and machine learning technology to provide filtration across all types of content on Xbox Live, delivering control to each and every individual player. Your feedback is more important than ever as we continue to evolve this experience and make Xbox a safe, welcome and inclusive place to game."
