South Park is known for its controversial humour, poking fun at topics in the real world, but it turns out a recent episode focusing on Hollywood changing content to suit Chinese audiences has caused the show to be banned online in China, as The Hollywood Reporter tells us.
Almost all episodes and discussions around the show have been removed from online spaces in the country, including the social media site Weibo, and South Park creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone issued a fake apology in their statement on the matter:
"Like the NBA, we welcome the Chinese censors into our homes and into our hearts," the statement reads. "We too love money more than freedom and democracy. Xi doesn't look like Winnie the Pooh at all. Tune into our 300th episode this Wednesday at 10! Long live the great Communist Party of China. May the autumn's sorghum harvest be bountiful. We good now China?"
