The first trailer for the Harley Quinn-headlined Birds of Prey was released just recently, showing off Margot Robbie's acting skills. Right after, however, Netherrealm Studios wanted to grab part of the spotlight and revealed a new skin for Cassie, inspired by Harley Quinn.
The developer explained, on the official Mortal Kombat account on Twitter, that Cassie Cage, a special forces commander and daughter of the series' veterans Johnny Cage and Sonya Blade, had auditioned for Birds of Prey but unfortunately didn't get the part because of her inherited acting skills (way to throw Johnny's pure talent under the bus, guys).
