ZEvent, a video game charity marathon created by the French streamer Adrien "ZeratoR" Nougaret and his sidekick Alexander "Dach" Dachary, broke the donation record on Twitch this weekend by raising more than 3.5 million euros. That's three times that of the previous record set by the same event a year ago.

For nearly 60 hours between Friday and Monday, about fifty gamers helped raise this huge sum for the Institut Pasteur, an NGO dedicated to medical research. This is a new global donation record for a charity event hosted on the Twitch platform.

Beyond the obvious generosity of the community, this performance was achieved thanks to the presence of famous gamers like Corentin "Gotaga" Houssein, nicknamed "French Monster" when he dominated the Call of Duty scene, and Lucas "Squeezie" Hauchard, a YouTuber followed by more than 13 million fans across his social accounts. This impressive success was even saluted by the French President, Emmanuel Macron, on Twitter:

"55 French gamers have just raised over 3 million euros this weekend for the benefit of the Institut Pasteur. You are inspiring and you show us that anything is possible to support a cause in which we believe. Bravo # ZEvent2019!"
