It's been a year since the Nitro Games catalog signed its first titles on the Discord store, but now Discord has revealed that Nitro Games will not be continuing, having revisited the annual contracts, meaning the catalog will be removed on October 15.
"With this change, we have the resources to refocus. We're going to double down on making sure Nitro nails its mission: more features, fun, and enhancements for hanging out in Discord with the people you care about. So please keep giving us feedback: here's where you can tell us what you want to see more of," Discord writes.
A $9.99 USD Nitro plan is in the works with new additions, including a Server Boost that's already been added for Nitro subscribers. These users also got to try the Go Live streaming feature earlier as well, and as of right now Discord has a new feature available doubling the upload size of 100mb.
As for those with Nitro games, current subscribers can play them until October 15, and this won't affect Nitro Game Perks or games purchased in your library.
The Epic Games Store also offers plenty of freebies on their platform, but this has a much bigger push in the PC space than Discord, offering a serious competitor to Steam via exclusive titles and other incentives.
