Timesplitters, Saints Row and Metro back on the menu at THQ Nordic

Plus Dambuster Studios is the latest developer to have been handed the reins of Dead Island 2, as the publisher continues to expand its portfolio with plenty of projects in the works.

Timesplitters is one of those franchises that everyone would like to see return, and it's somewhat strange that we haven't gotten a new full entry in the series since the PS2-era. That could be about to change, however, as new IP holder Deep Silver/THQ Nordic (who grabbed it from Crytek last year) has recruited series co-creator Steve Ellis "to help plot the future course for this franchise".

There's not a huge amount revealed in the press release, but it's at least encouraging that the IP's new owners are looking to make the most out of it.

In the same presser, THQ Nordic confirmed a couple of other interesting things. Most notably, Volition is trying to put the misstep of Agents of Mayhem behind them and the studio is going back to doing what it does best: Saints Row. Apparently, the team are "deep in development of a brand-new Saints Row game."

Then there's the news that Dambuster Studios will follow in the footsteps of Yager and Sumo Digital as the latest studio to get a crack at Dead Island 2. This one seems like a poison chalice at this stage, although it will be interesting to see what the Homefront devs can do with the troubled open-world zombie franchise.

Finally, CEO Lars Wingefors also used the investor's call to confirm that 4A Games is working on a new Metro game. According to this Tweet from @DarkDetectiveNL, which echoes the press release with regards to Volition's next Saints Row game, 4A is working on another Metro game. Given the success of the Exodus, that's hardly a surprise.

While Metro isn't mentioned in the press release, the company did confirm that "in total we have 81 games under development whereof 47 were still unannounced by end of the quarter."
