Earlier this week Business Insider reported that there had been threats of a shooting targeted at the headquarters of streaming platform Twitch in San Francisco, with workers given the chance to work from home on Wednesday as law enforcement investigated the matter.
While San Francisco police confirmed there was no "active threat" to the HQ yesterday afternoon, an email to Kotaku from an anonymous source said the "matter could still be fluid".
Law enforcement did reiterate to Kotaku that there was no "active threat," but "our special investigations unit has been notified".
"The safety and security of our employees is our top priority, and we are focused on ensuring this is resolved quickly and safely," a Twitch statement reads, and according to these reports multiple threats came from the same person.
This comes mere days after US President Donald Trump commented on "gruesome and grisly video games" following two mass shootings in Dayton, Ohio and El Paso, Texas, comments which received backlash from figures like Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick.
We wish those affected all the best.
