Precursor Games are putting an end to their crowdfunding campaigns for Shadow of the Eternals (both their own and the one on Kickstarter) on June 6 as the campaign has struggled to really take off ($284,697 of $1,500,000). Obviously since the goal on Kickstarter hasn't been met none of those funds will be transferred over and the same goes for Precursor's own campaign. Instead a new campaign will be launched in a few weeks.

Paul Caporicci, issued the following statement on Kickstarter:
"Since we announced this Kickstarter campaign we have seen more support from our community than we had ever hoped for. Along with this support has come a host of a new exciting opportunities that will make the game better than we envisioned. As a result, we have chosen to temporarily take down the Shadow of the Eternals crowdfunding campaigns on both Kickstarter and our own website on Thursday, June 6.

This doesn't mean we are going away -- far from it. We'll be re-launching the Kickstarter in just a few short weeks with a reveal of these exciting new developments."

It is obvious that the reputation of Silicon Knights and the distrust created by a probing article over at Kotaku had a lot to do with the failure to reach the target, and the media strategy of having Denis Dyack post a 30 minute video rebuttal may not have been the smartest idea. Especially since Dyack the longtime creative leader of Silicon Knights was kept somewhat in the background as the campaign kicked off.

Remains to be seen just what exciting new developments Precursor Games are about to reveal and whether they will be able to drum up enough enthusiasm with their second attempt at crowdfunding Shadow of the Eternals.
