The times they are a-changing in the world of James Bond, it would seem, after a new report over on The Guardian has seemingly revealed that the actor Lashana Lynch is set to take on the iconic codename of 007 in the next entry in the long-running spy series based on the novels by Ian Fleming.
According to an unnamed insider, fans can expect to see Lynch, 31, replacing Daniel Craig as the world's most famous spy, with Bond in retirement in Jamaica.
"There is a pivotal scene at the start of the film where M says, "Come in 007", and in walks Lashana who is black, beautiful and a woman," the anonymous source told the paper. "It's a popcorn-dropping moment. Bond is still Bond but he's been replaced as 007."
Of course, Bond is still going to figure in the 25th movie in the series, and there's every chance that Lynch's time as 007 will be limited, but if the report is accurate (and The Guardian is generally reliable) then it's still a big shift for the series.
We can't wait to see the movie when it's done, although we're still not sure when that'll be.
