Earlier this week we reported on the response of a number of indie game makers to an ad campaign from online retailer G2A, with multiple developers using the discussion to tell prospective players to steal their games rather than buy them from the digital marketplace.
Now the company has broken its silence with an extended statement that tells its side of the story, as well as making an offer to developers who lose money due to chargebacks. G2A is offering to pay back ten times as much money as the developer has lost, with the condition that an independent financial auditor is involved in the process to make sure that keys were obtained by stolen credit cards.
There's more to it than that, and the full post can be found here (though we should warn you, it's rather long), but in short the company is trying to distance itself from some of the claims made by developers, and they hope that this public declaration will help repair some broken bridges. How the developers feel about the new offer remains to be seen, however.
