EA has announced that, further to scrapping their Online Pass system for new releases, older games will also no longer require the one-time-use codes.
Previously many games came with a code that allowed access to online features, and those who bought second-hand games would usually not get that code with their purchase, thus being forced to buy another from EA in order to access online content. Happily, this will no longer be the case.
EA Sports titles are the first to have the feature turned off, but the publisher's entire back-catalogue will eventually see the change implemented.
In a blogpost, EA revealed the reason behind the change: "We listened to the feedback from players, and decided to do away with Online Pass. We hope that eliminating Online Pass will allow more people to play and enjoy EA games for a long time to come."
