It will be almost five years since the game was announced at E3 that the first portion of Final Fantasy VII: Remake hits PlayStation 4, and so fans won't be blamed for feeling a little concerned about the prospect of having to wait a long time for the second part of the reimagining to arrive.

It shouldn't come to another five-year wait, however, after Square Enix said that development on subsequent parts of the game should be much more efficient than has been the case so far, despite the fact that game director Yoshinori Kitase explained how each release will be the equivalent to the same amount of content as you'd see in a full-fledged Final Fantasy game (although he didn't go as far as confirming how many chapters this FFVII will be split into).

"While the development team finish the first game in the project, we are continuing to plan and outline the overall volume of content for the second," Kitase added (via Twitter).

"Due to the work already done on the first game we anticipate development of the second game to be more efficient. We have our own internal schedule and plan, but for now we'd like to focus our information on the first game in the project."

Expectant fans will surely be pleased to hear that. If you're among their number, you can read our impressions of Final Fantasy VII: Remake right here.
