Last night Microsoft unveiled their next-gen console, Xbox One. We covered the basics from the event, talked with Phil Harrison, and got hands on with the new Kinect and controller.

Once it had all sunk in, we also realised that there was plenty of info that we didn't know, and dammit, we want answers!

The event itself closed with a Call of Duty: Ghosts reveal, and you can read our in-depth analysis of the content that was shown right here.

The highlights from the last 24 hours, in chronological order, are as follows:

The Xbox One was revealed in Redmond, Washington. And it was also announced that the console would be released worldwide, this year.

We got a brief glimpse of Remedy's Quantum Break, and Microsoft announced a partnership with EA.

Nobody was surprise to see Forza 5 make an appearance, but Steven Spielberg's appearance to (briefly) talk about the forthcoming Halo TV series certainly raised a few eyebrows.

It was no surprise to see Microsoft and Activision renew their exclusivity agreement for Call of Duty DLC.

Battlefield 4 was confirmed for the console, along with Watch Dogs and Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag. The same can be said for Thief.

Crytek's Ryse is to be an Xbox One exclusive, but nobody knows what Rare are working on, other than the fact that it's going to be "historic".

Pre-orders are already open, but backwards compatibility is not being supported.

Xbox Gold memberships will work on Xbox One and 360 concurrently, and contrary to speculation in the run up to the reveal, the console will not need to be "always on". However, if you want to watch Live TV on your new Xbox, you might need to buy an extra bit of kit.

There have been a couple of non-Xbox related news pieces in the last couple of days: There's a release date for Battlefield 4, we got details regarding the season pass for Metro: Last Light, and it seems like EA has got games in development for Nintendo's Wii U after all.

The GRTV boys have been equally busy today. We talked to Ubisoft about Watch Dogs, and Paradox North told us a little more about Magicka: Wizard Wars. We found out about browser game Godsrule: War of Mortals, on the day of its release we talked Call of Juarez: Gunslinger with brand manager Aymeric Evennou, and we talk with Infinity Ward about Call of Duty: Ghosts.

That lot should keep you busy for a while. See you tomorrow.
