EA has plans for Wii U after all?

"We are building titles for the Nintendo console, but not anywhere near as many as we are for PS or Xbox."

Last week EA caused quite a stir when their spokes person Jeff Brown said they had no games in development for Wii U for the moment. But Chief financial officer Blake Jorgensen sang a different tune when speaking to Polygon recently:

"You know, I think Nintendo's business was more [an] extension of their last console. We are building titles for the Nintendo console, but not anywhere near as many as we are for PS or Xbox."

"I think what the consumer will find is a lot more powerful gameplay with the new boxes that are coming out, and a lot of excitement, but it'll remain to be seen as to the services associated with those as to how consumers decide which direction they might want to go."

Not quite sure what to make of this. EA have confirmed that neither FIFA nor Madden will hit Wii U this season and when those kind of titles are not being ported over, it's hard to see what games would be ported. Add to that the fact that pretty much every core oriented release from EA will make use of the Frostbite engine (which does not support Wii U) and it leaves us wondering just what plans EA has to support the Wii U. Could it be older titles? Digital releases? Something to do with The Sims? We'll have to wait and see on this one, but for now EA is sort of still supporting Wii U.

Need for Speed: Most Wanted was the fourth EA title to see release on Wii U. Rumours has it that with this release EA fulfilled their obligations to Nintendo as stated in the partnership agreement announced at E3 2011.
