Shirley Curry - otherwise known as Skyrim Grandma - might be one of the most popular examples of older generations enjoying games, but a new study of 2,000 adults as part of the Must Play May campaign has discovered that 42% of Brits aged 55 to 64 and 27% of those over 65 have enjoyed playing video games in the past five years.
40% of those over 60 have played strategy games in particular, although 20% in the same group take part in multiplayer games as well. What's more is that 40% of those who are parents like to play games with their children too, with 75% of the 35 to 44 bracket frequently picking up a controller.
This Must Play May campaign is supported by the podcasters Scummy Mummies, comprised of Ellie Gibson and Helen Thorn, who have just released an episode talking about the myths around video games and children.
Will you ever stop playing games?
