It's a sad truth that some studios who attract the anger of video game fans have been known to receive death threats from certain members of the community, and now Livedoor News (and brought to us in English by Kotaku) has reported that a 25-year-old man has been arrested after reportedly emailing death threats to Square Enix.

The report claims the email was sent on February 5 to the developer's Tokyo Office, threatening to kill them the next day and telling them to get ready. Security was increased as a result, and the nursing care worker was arrested on March 29, at which point he confessed to sending the email out of anger after spending 200,000 yen (around £1,373) on a game without getting a desired item.

We wish the developers all the best.
