Yesterday we reported on a memo shared among GameStop employees that suggested that as of April 1, 2019, Sony would no longer allow its retail partners to sell digital codes of full games.

Based on that report we reached out to the PlayStation UK team and asked for clarification on the matter, and the platform holder got back in touch with a short statement that confirms the decision but that also clarifies that other digital products will remain on sale at High Street retailers. Here's the statement that was sent to Gamereactor:

"We can confirm that as of April 1, 2019, Sony Interactive Entertainment will no longer offer full games through SIE's Global Digital at Retail program. This decision was made in order to continue to align key businesses globally. To support full games and premium editions, SIE will introduce increased denominations at select retailers. DLC, add-ons, virtual currency, and season passes will still be available."
