We don't often report on retailer Walmart in our industry (except for the giant Walmart Canada leak that revealed the likes of Rage 2), but it seems as if they might be preparing a games streaming service, at least according to a report from USgamer.

This rumour comes in the same week that Google revealed their own streaming platform called Stadia, and news of Walmart's plans comes from alleged sources close to the company. There are few details in the report, but Walmart has allegedly been speaking to developers and publishers this year about the service.

Of course with so little information and anonymous sources, take this with a hefty pinch of salt for now, especially since it's unclear whether these are solid plans or just ideas that Walmart could potentially explore in the future. With Google making a big statement with Stadia though, anyone thinking of moving into game streaming should be very careful.

Do you think Walmart could compete?
