And what has been positive over the last while is that although a lot of the ugliness has surfaced - there is no better way to combat this than exposure. When Shannon Sun-Higginson was told about the abuse female gamers and industry figures suffers, she wanted to do something about it and that's how GTFO - a documentary about women in gaming was born. As many aspiring documentary makers these days so looked to crowdfunding as a means of acquiring funds - and now the project has reached its Kickstarter target of $20,000.
