If you're an old school Sega fan you no doubt have a place in your heart for Wonderboy and the Monster World series. You're in for some good news as Sega are preparing to bring out three games in the series on PSN and Virtual Console.

Wonderboy in Monster Land (arcade)
Wonderboy in Monster World (Mega Drive)
Monster World IV (Mega Drive)

Yes, that's right! Monster World IV which only saw release on Mega Drive in Japan is finally being localised for European and American audiences as part of Vintage Collection 3.

An interesting note is that even though Monster World IV is part of the Wonderboy franchise it still stars a female lead character - Arsha - but other than that it features the familiar Monster World blend of platforming, action and role-playing.

In addition to these games Sega are also bringing out Revenge of Shinobi (Mega Drive) and Alex Kidd in Miracle World (Master System) as part of Vintage Collection 3.

The games in Vintage Collection 3 will be released late this year or early next year. Now if Sega could put together a pack with all six Wonderboy/Monster World titles that would be... wonderful!
