The battle royale genre quickly took the gaming world by storm and it's still going strong. In an interview with IGN, Halo boss Bonnie Ross talked a little bit about the upcoming instalment of the franchise, calling the game a "spiritual reboot" of the Halo franchise, taking a step back from the previous two games in the series.
Regarding the battle royale mode, however, Ross also praised Respawn Entertainment's Apex Legends and compared it more to Halo than other battle royale games - could that be a hint that a possible Halo battle royale mode is planned. Adding to the thought, Ross also said "We have conversations all the time about what the right thing to do is," adding that the sandbox environment of Halo and its multiplayer allows for a lot of different game modes, potentially including battle royale.
