Lego Ideas features a proposed Sonic the Hedgehog set

The set needs 10,000 votes to become a reality, and showcases Green Hill Zone and the battle between Sonic and Eggman's mech.

Sonic the Hedgehog and Lego have only fraternised briefly in the past, with a featured set and world in Lego Dimensions (a screenshot of which you can see below), but now a brand new suggestion on the Lego Ideas website could give us a bigger set to we can experience more of the Sega icon in blocky form.

As brought to our attention by VG247 this set is based on Sonic Mania, one of the most well-received Sonic games in recent memory that reinvigorates the classic concepts first seen on the Mega Drive/Genesis in the original platformers. This set from toastergrl replicates the classic style, from the Green Hill Zone layout all the way to the box containing an extra life, and even has a giant Eggman posing Sonic a threat.

In the set there's a classic Sonic as well as a "running blur" build, three Flickies, a Motobug, and Eggman himself (aside from his mech). Two modules are a part of this, and there are 612 pieces with 11 new prints. A Lego Technic lever even enables you to launch Sonic using the spring just as you would in-game.

You can take a closer look at the set on the Lego Ideas page, where it currently sits at 1,340 supporters at the time of writing. It needs 10,000 supporters to become a reality though, and all you need to do to vote is click on the button with a Lego account.

Would you buy this?
