Razer has announced that it will 'cease operation' on its game store on February 28 at 9:00 GMT (1:00 PST), and the company has said that the reason behind the closure is "part of the company's realignment plans".

For anyone who has purchased a game on the site, Razer has said in a Q&A following the announcement that games will still work but will be required to have the necessary game key which should've been sent to a linked email account. They have also said that any pre-ordered games will still be fulfilled by the game store.

As for Razer's own currency system, Razer Gold and Silver, they should still function correctly once the store closes down allowing users to still get discounts on various rewards. Razer has also said that they "will be investing in other ways to deliver great content and introduce game promotions through Razer Gold, our virtual credits system".

The Razer Game Store opened globally on April 5, 2018, in an attempt to compete with Steam, Amazon and now Epic, with the main incentive of offering loyalty points to anybody who purchased there. Several large developers such as Ubisoft, Rockstar and Bandai Namco all decided to sell some of their games over the platform however it was not enough to knock the likes of Steam off its perch.
