Last month, Damon Baker surprised a lot of people when he announced that he was leaving Nintendo of America, and wrote an open letter where he declared that "you'll definitely hear more from me soon". Baker was one of the absolute top names at Nintendo of America where he had worked since 2006, and the last two years as Head of Partner Management, where he is often credited with the great indie support for the console.

Now he has revealed what he will do next - and it turns out he is going straight to a former competitor. Late yesterday, he tweeted:

"Hey all, overdue news to share. Been soaking up knowledge this last month as the new Head of Portfolio for #Xbox! Honored and excited to help evaluate all 2nd/3rd party content towards our strategy. Big thanks to @iocat @aarongreenberg @XboxP3 and team. The future looks amazing!"

Baker has likely been scouted by Microsoft thanks to his relationships with all major publishers and developers, as well as having an avid eye for what the gaming community actually wants to play. As Head of Portfolio, Bakers's new role will be to oversee and evaluate games from second and third-party to the Xbox consoles, both current and future.

Shortly after Baker tweeted this, he was greeted by the Xbox boss Phil Spencer, who responded:

"Great to have you on board, welcome to the team."

Do you consider this good recruitment on the Xbox team's behalf?
