Tokyo Ghoul:re Call to Exist gets some brand new details

We get deep dives into three new characters, their special attacks, and how the action gauge works in the game.

Tokyo Ghoul fans have a big reason to be excited right now, as Three Rings and Bandai Namco's Tokyo Ghoul:re Call to Exist is coming soon to PC and PS4, and now the publisher has revealed some new details about the game on their website.

First up we get an introduction to Nishiki Nishio, a ghoul who hunts fellow ghouls and has the nickname of 'Serpent' due to his snake mask. He's an S-rank ghoul of the Aogiri tree and has a special attack called Bikaku, which gives him a sort of tail to bind enemies or unleash a ranged attack.

Then we have Shu Tsukiyama, son of the Tsukiyama Group and once known by the name of Gourmet. Even since Kaneki disappeared he's lost all meaning though, and his special attack Koukaku has a main piercing attack and the ability to guard another powerful incoming attack.

Lastly there's Touka Kirishima, who manages the coffee shop called ':re'. Touka hopes that Kaneki is still alive and will return there, and has the Ukaku attack manifesting itself in large feathers. These aren't things of beauty though, as they can perform quick attacks and long-range assaults.

We also get the action gauge mechanic explained a little more, which can be used to unleash a powerful attack. Ghoul characters will have their gauge refilled as time passes, but others will need items to refill it. The gauge gets consumed while using a Unique Action - a more powerful attack than usual for weak enemies and long-term battles - but there's also the Special Attack dealing even more damage.
