Also, the studio has revealed game has sold half a million copies since it went on sale in early 2018 (and the soundtrack did pretty well too).

One game that seemed to resonate strongly with a large number of people this year was Celeste (Matt Makes Games), which landed on PC, PS4, Switch, and Xbox One at the start of the year. Since then the game has gone on to earn critical acclaim from the wider gaming community, and sales have been good as a result.

According to creative lead Matt Thorson, Celeste sold more than 500,000 copies in 2018. More interesting, however, is the news that the game is getting some "farewell content" in the early part of next year. Here's what he had to say:

"We're working on some farewell Celeste levels, which should be ready in early 2019. They're very hard. And we'll be announcing what's next for us in the new year as well. See you in 2019 :)"

Given the praise lavished on the soundtrack, it's also nice to note that composer Lena Raine has enjoyed some success too, and it was confirmed that Celeste's OST "sold over 6,000 copies across all platforms & streamed on Spotify over 4 million times."

It's also worth mentioning that Celeste is going to appear on next month's Games with Gold on Xbox One. More on that here.
