A connection issue interrupted many gamer's access to Xbox Live over the weekend, which can't have helped public perception following recent fallout surrounding claims that the next Xbox will be "always-on".

Microsoft creative director Adam Orth appears to have lost his job following his unconventional defence of "always-on" consoles, after irritating many with his public comments on the subject.

The service is now up and running, so no harm there, but it is a gentle reminder to all of the potential issues surrounding "always-on" technology. That said, we still know next to nothing about Microsoft's next-gen plans, and reports could well be wide of the mark. We'll just have to wait and see when MS announce the next Xbox, which is widely thought to be happening next month.
