In recent years we've seen more discussions emerge about toxicity in our beloved industry, with everything from the players to senior executives coming into the spotlight for their attitudes and remarks, and now we have another case to talk about coming out of Electronic Arts Ireland.
As reported by The Irish Times, Jean Philippe Grenet was dismissed as senior director of Global Delivery Service for EA Ireland for allegedly telling a female coworker he wasn't going to "pull my d*** out and put it on the table [...] to see who has the bigger dick".
Grenet denied making said comment, and says that the actual quote he used was "I don't want to compare the length of my d***" with the colleague in question. While in court he said the remark was ill-advised, but adds that the person who made the complaint was acting out of spite. He also adds that he thinks the decision wasn't a fair procedure and he wasn't put through proper disciplinary procedures.
Grenet's lawyer got a temporary injunction to prevent EA from dismissing him or recruiting anyone else from his position, and they maintain his remarks were taken out of context. EA, however, maintains that they have a right to terminate his employment, and has denied the disciplinary process being flawed.
What do you make of the dismissal?
