We rarely get real sales numbers anymore, especially not from Microsoft and generally not from NPD (who track North American video game sales) either. A far cry from back in the day when everything was more transparent (or leaked more regularly). Therefore all breadcrumbs we get are worth paying attention to, to get a better understanding of how the world of video games is doing.
Now the analyst Mat Piscatella from NPD has shared a little nugget on Twitter where he responds to a fan making a joke about low Xbox sales:
"Xbox One sales show the highest growth of the 3 major HW platforms in the US this year, and the Xbox One X in particular has been performing phenomenally. Console warring on the internet is one of the dumber things people do, unfortunately."
The high growth is likely partially a result of increased Xbox One sales from low levels to start with, but Xbox One X "performing phenomenally" is, of course, interesting and it seems like Microsoft finally might have gotten some momentum on their side, at least in America.
