Yooka-Laylee reaches one million players

Playtonic's throwback platformer has done well for itself.

Playtonic Games has reason to celebrate. Their debut title Yooka-Laylee has now reached the one million players milestone (not exactly the same as one million copies sold, but close enough), as revealed by the studio on Twitter:

"Wahey! We've hit a milestone of over 1 million #YookaLaylee players! Have a massive thank you from all of us at Playtonic, in the form of a fresh photo of the world's most gorgeous 47-year-old, Kev Bayliss (bottom right), with his colleagues."

The platformer was created as the spiritual successor to Banjo-Kazooie and, as evident, there were a great number of players out there who crave something like that. Playtonic has yet to announce what they're working on next, but a sequel wouldn't be out of the question...
