Nintendo: N64 Classic mini is "not in our planning horizon"

Reggie Fils-Aime hasn't totally shut the door though.

Since we're getting a lot of mini consoles these days, which bundle together classic games in a cute little package, people have cast their eyes towards Nintendo once more to see if they might release a Nintendo 64 mini at some point, but Nintendo of America's President and COO Reggie Fils-Aime has bad news on that front.

Speaking to Kotaku, Fils-Aime said: "I would not ever rule something out, but what I can tell you is certainly that's not in our planning horizon." For an executive that usually leaves every door open and never takes risks talking to the press, this seems a very clear answer.

The NES and SNES Classic Mini were offered in limited quantities first, but Nintendo opted out to resume production due to high demand. "We were clear when we did the first two Classic series that, for us, these were limited time opportunities that were a way for us as a business to bridge from the conclusion of Wii U as a hardware system to the launch of Nintendo Switch," Fils-Aime explained to Kotaku.

In the last quarterly fiscal report, the company revealed that the mini consoles have already topped 10 million units sold combined, so they seem to have gone down a storm, and we also have the PlayStation Classic to look forward to next month as well.

If the N64 Classic Mini ever comes, what games would you like featured?
