Stan Lee, the creator of some of the most iconic comic book characters of the last century, has passed away at the age of 95-years-old.

TMZ was the first outlet to report the sad news, as they learned of Lee's passing from his daughter, Joan Celia. She told the site that her father was rushed to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center earlier today, confirming that he was declared dead at the hospital. Our thoughts go out this his family and friends.

Stan Lee was responsible for creating some truly iconic comic book characters, including the X-Men and Spider-Man, and his creations have featured in comics and graphic novels, films (where he often joined them by making cameo appearances), and a whole bunch of computer games too. In terms of making an impact on popular culture, there are few who can compare.

Rest in peace, Stan Lee. We'll never forget you nor the incredible legacy you've left behind.
