And Mark Rein has never been known to exaggerate anything.

Epic Games may have lost some of their more high profile talent as of late, but one who is still at the developer is Mark Rein - vice-president and co-founder, and he is very optimistic about Fortnite - Epic's forthcoming venture into free-to-play - a game we have yet to truly see in action.

In an interview with CVG, Rein explains that while they first created Unreal 4 demos using Fortnite assets they later opted out of using them.

"With your first impression of it, you need to understand what it is. So if you don't do that you sort of ruin people's first impression of it. So I said, 'we can't use Fortnite stuff' and they created all of this new content".

These days Rein says Epic are "focused solely on the engine but we're working on Fortnite -- which might be the best thing we've ever done. It's because it's so good that we're going to take our time with it, then we're going to have a very slow rollout of it, get a few hundred people to play it and do cool things. It's got such a long lifespan that we just don't want to rush it".

Now, Mark Rein has never been a shy fellow so take it for what it is.
