Rockstar and Take-Two have become two of the most powerful companies in the industry due to their work on Grand Theft Auto V and Red Dead Redemption 2, and in the process they've gotten a reputation as being a force to be reckoned with. TrustedReviews and parent company TI Media just learned why the hard way.

Back in February, the website decided to share confidential documents which detailed information we now know to be accurate with regards to Red Dead Redemption 2, and you can safely say that the game's developer and publisher didn't much like that. Just read this statement from TrustedReviews:

"On February 6, 2018, we published an article that was sourced from a confidential corporate document. We should have known this information was confidential and should not have published it. We unreservedly apologise to Take-Two Games and we have undertaken not to repeat such actions again. We have also agreed to donate over £1 million to charities chosen by Take-Two Games."

That's right. Take-Two and Rockstar did apparently threaten to sue the website, so they decided to settle things by making TrustedReviews donate an agreed sum to charity. It seems like they had time to consider which causes the money would go to during the talks because the chosen charities are just too fitting to have been thought of on the fly. This is the statement Rockstar sent to us with regards to the settlement:

"Take-Two takes security seriously and will take legal action against people or publications who leak confidential information. Because this situation involved information about Red Dead Redemption 2, Rockstar Games has decided to directed the settlement funds to these three great charities: the American Indian College Fund, the American Prairie Reserve, and the First Nations Development Institute."

Red Dead Redemption 2 launched on PS4 and Xbox One last week, and you can read our review of the game right here.
