Michael Hogan, Gamestop's executive vice president of strategy business and brand development, has told financial analysts that Sony's recently announced PlayStation 4 will launch worldwide in 2013.
"We know that Sony will introduce the PlayStation 4 globally in 2013, but we are still waiting to see what Microsoft's final plans are," Hogan said during a recent conference call (as reported by Xbitlabs.com).
Last time around - with the PS3 - Sony staged a staggered launch for the console, but if the retailer is accurate, it could mean that this time European gamers get their hands on the console at the same time as those in North America and Japan.
Gamestop's Robert Loyd was also upbeat: "With Grand Theft Auto V and Battlefield 4 releasing in the third quarter, and the PlayStation 4 launching in the fourth quarter, we expect a return to growth for the back half of the year."
Sony has yet to confirm their plans with regards to the PS4's launch, but we're keeping our fingers crossed that the retailer is correct and we'll be able to get hands on with the console this side of Christmas.
