Back in the day, snooker games were fairly common, but their popularity seems to have decreased over the years and during this generation there really hasn't been a whole lot to choose from - especially not with official licenses. However, Lab42 and Ripstone just announced Snooker 19.
Here we get to play with and against 128 of the top players, including Ding Junhui, Judd Trump, Mark Selby, and Ronnie O'Sullivan. We are also being promised iconic venues for the sport like The Crucible and Alexandra Palace where we will "compete in every major tournament culminating with the World Championship in Sheffield".
The developers claims that it will offer both realistic and great looking snooker with both multiplayer and a well fleshed-out single-player mode, as well as a "compelling TV style presentation". Lewis Ward from World Snooker had the following to say in the press release:
"As a sport, snooker has gone from strength to strength in the past decade and, at the same time, sports gaming has revolutionized. This is what makes working with Ripstone and Lab42 so exciting; seeing them create a state-of-the-art game that will deliver the most authentic snooker experience ever."
Snooker 19 will be released for PC, PlayStation 4, Switch and Xbox One at a yet undisclosed date next year. Below are the first screenshots.
