There has been plenty of speculation regarding the release of the next generation of consoles from Microsoft and Sony, and perhaps we just got the best indication so far that it might in fact happen next year, as SegmentNext has discovered a very interesting detail in a job listing from Infinity Ward on LinkedIn, which reads:

"Come work with the game industry's brightest on an exciting, unannounced next-gen title. The candidate must have a strong interest and passion for First Person Shooter (FPS) games."

As you may know, Infinity Ward is likely making the next installment of Call of Duty, as Treyarch is responsible for Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 this year, while Sledgehammer made Call of Duty: WWII last year. Unless the studio for the first time ever has a second secret project in the works besides Call of Duty (which also happens to be a first-person shooter), they are in fact going to release next year's installment to at least one next-gen console, it would appear.

If this means both PlayStation 5 and a new Xbox or only one of them remains to be seen, but it does look like the next generation could officially start in 2019. After all, Sony has recently come out and confirmed that they're working on new hardware, so perhaps we're making moves forwards after all.

What do you want to see from future hardware?
