Back in May we reported that the Monster Hunter film would be brought to life by Constantin Film and directed by Paul W.S. Anderson, having a budget of $60 million USD, and now we know more details on the project courtesy of a Capcom press release.

"After living and breathing in the universe of Monster Hunter for 14 years we are thrilled with enormous anticipation to see our creations adapted for a theatrical release," said Monster Hunter Series Producer Ryozo Tsujimoto. "Monster Hunter's fan base has exploded over the past year with the runaway success of the game Monster Hunter: World. It is our hope long-time fans and new alike will join us on this exciting exploration of the Monster Hunter universe."

The film has the working title of Monster Hunter and tells the story of two heroes from different worlds uniting to defeat the huge monsters the series is known for. There'll be plenty of discoveries along the way too, as well as familiar faces like the Admiral, according to the press release.

Principal photography is starting this month in South Africa and Namibia, and the screenplay was written by Anderson too. Jeremy Bolt from Impact Pictures is also on board as a producer, as well as Robert Kulzer and Martin Moszkowicz from Constantin Film, not to mention Dennis Berardi, who also acts as head of VFX.
