Mega Man is one of Capcom's most beloved franchises, and now they've announced that the series is getting a live-action film for the first time, being written and directed by Henry Joost and Ariel Schulman.
The film is simply titled Mega Man for now, and will be distributed by 20th Century Fox, with Chernin Entertainment (responsible for the Planet of the Apes series) producing it alongside Masi Oka.
Capcom writes that their aim is "to appeal to a diverse audience, including not only game players but action movie fans as well, with an adaptation that maintains the world of the Mega Man games, while incorporating the grand production and entertainment value that Hollywood movies are known for."
The company also adds that, "going forward, Capcom remains committed to increasing the brand value of its game content by maximizing the significant promotional effect of visual media."
If you're a Mega Man fan you'll no doubt already know that Mega Man 11 has just landed at our feet too, so it's a good time for fans of the franchise, and you can check out our review of that game right here.
