As you can read in our huge hands-on preview, the main mission for Rockstar with Red Dead Redemption 2 seems to be adding depth to the experience, and one way the studio is going to do that is by introducing a whole host of opportunities for you to fine-tune your weapons of choice.
The game will offer a huge gun customisation suite, which can be accessed by visiting a gunsmith in one of the game's many towns or cities. There, you can swap out individual parts of each weapon, be that a barrel on a handgun, the muzzle on a repeater, down to the material used for the handle.
This changes the characteristics of each weapon, letting you customise them to fit a certain playstyle. Not only that, each component can be customised visually too, and it's even possible to craft your own golden set of guns.
In addition, guns will get dirty over time and will require you to either pay a gunsmith to clean them or clean them yourself in camp. If you do not, they may misfire during combat. You have been warned.
