Just yesterday we relayed to you the reasons why Sony doesn't intend to apply cross-play functionality to PlayStation 4. According to Sony chief executive Kenichiro Yoshida, the reason is that "PlayStation is the best way to play."
Xbox's vice-president Mike Ybarra replied to that statement over on Twitter, arguing that according to him the Japanese company "still isn't listening to gamers". Ybarra also added that "all games should be cross play and progression with the right input flexibility and gamer options".
It's very likely that these latest comments from within the Xbox camp will give rise to new reactions on that subject since it's something that seems to matter to a lot of players. At the moment Microsoft and Nintendo, with their Xbox One and Nintendo Switch respectively, continue to support cross-play in a number of cases.
It remains to be seen if Sony will ever change its position, but at the moment the Japanese company seems to be sticking to its guns.
