Japan is still coming to terms with the devastation brought about by the earthquake a few weeks back and Kotaku have posted a blog discussing how the situation could affect Tokyo Game Show in September.

Currently, they are trying to preserve energy in Japan given the situation that has put several nuclear power plants out of commission. An event such as Tokyo Game Show is an extremely power hungry beast to satisfy and the current power saving tactics could last as long as six months.

On top of this it is hard to gage the financial state of Japanese publisher at the moment, some may simply not afford to attend TGS.

A representative of the organisers told Kotaku:

"Currently, we are not thinking of canceling or making the show smaller. Depending on the situation from here on out, it is possible that the show is reduced."
