Lucid Games has been around for a good few years now having been set up by large portion of the senior staff from the closed down Bizarre Creations. Likely their most ambitious project to date is the vehicular MOBA Switchblade ("League of Blur" if you will) that's launching into Steam Early Access today. We caught up with creative director and co-founder Craig Howard to learn more about the game the studio has been working on for the last 4 years.

"Because it's vehicles, it's all about movement and being to react to different things that happen within the map," says Howard. "Essentially every game is like a mini-war, though you're playing war at a 150 miles per hour."

As you'd expect Switchblade features lanes, towers to take down, but the creeps work a bit differently as they carry bombs you need to in order to take down the defences of the towers. And so it becomes a game of escorting your creeps and taking out the other team's creeps. Another big mechanic is the ability to switch out your vehicle through a drop, switching up your class, and adapting your strategy.

"It's been a great game for development because we've really been playing it as an active team for about 3.5 years and then the last year has been in closed beta," says Howard. "It's been really good cause the community has really responded well to the game. They gave us some really fantastic feedback as well and we've made some quite big changes... At one point when your vehicle gets destroyed you go back to your home base and you can kind of see what's happening around your base but now the community were like 'why don't we go in the middle of the map so I can see everything?' what we did is we changed the map we designed them around that and now when you're destroyed you can actually see all of the campaign go on below and you can give feedback to your teammates."

The game will be available through Steam Early Access later on today. It will launch on PS4 at a later date.
